Paris Sacre Coeur
The Sacré-Cœur Basilica in Paris, France, was built as a symbol of national penance and reconciliation after the Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871) and the Paris Commune. Construction began in 1875, inspired by Romanesque and Byzantine architecture. The basilica was completed in 1914 and consecrated in 1919.
Paris Saint Roch
The site originally housed a modest chapel dedicated to Saint Susanna in the early 16th century. It was later rebuilt into a larger church in 1577 by Étienne Dinocheau.
